With the worldwide economic crisis leaving its mark on businesses worldwide, HP decided to expand its Total Care portfolio with two new additions. Intended for small and medium businesses, the Pro 3000 and the Pro 3005 compact desktops are put together with the purpose of providing their owners with an optimum performance, functionality and usability.

The Pro 3000 uses an Intel platform and may come with a Pentium DC or Core 2 Duo/Quad CPU. On the other hand, the 3005 uses an Advanced Micro Devices motherboard and either one of the AMD Athlon II (X2/X3/X4) or Phenom II processors. The graphics were not a prime concern, as they rarely are in business configurations. As such, video chipsets will be either integrated or along the lines of discrete adapters, such as Radeon HD 4350, HD 4650 or GeForce 210.

While the graphics were of little concern, high-speed computing and storage capacity were the main focus. Both the Pro 3000 and the Pro 3005 come with up to 8GB of RAM and up to 500GB of storage space. Coupled with the processors, these resources will be quite suitable for the heavy computing tasks that business desktops often perform.

The configurations will come with a pre-installed operating system, with the choices being Windows 7, Vista, XP (downgrade), SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop 11 and FreeDOS.

The microtowers will most likely become available for purchase during the following month, at the retail prices of $470 for the Pro 3000 and of $450 for the Pro 3005.
