In mind with a desktop replacement, HP?s (Hewlett Packard) new 17 inch Pavilion dv8000 is based on a new chassis and is powered by an AMD Turion 64 processor (ML-32). Targeted towards home users, Pavilion dv8000 is an entertainment ready laptop.

Pavilion dv8000 features an ATI Radeon Xpress 200M integrated GPU (Graphic processing Unit) with 128 MB of RAM. Also, the laptop is equipped with a dual hard disk drive storage system that provides additional storage of up to 240 GB. This makes it easy for users to store more music, photos and movies.

The 3DNow! Professional Technology supports multimedia functionality such as editing home videos and running home entertainment software. AMD Turion 64 processors also include integrated PowerNow! Technology to increase battery life while providing performance on demand as needed.

The dual EIDE drive bays are accompanied by the lightScribe enbled Dual layer DVD drive. The LightScribe technology is the next step in the optical discs? evolution. The units fitted with LightScribe support can write on both sides of a disc. Practically, after the CD or DVD is burned, the user has to turn it on the other side and to label it with an image of his choice.

The widescreen display of the new HP Pavilion dv8000 laptop offers a native WXGA+ resolution of 1440x900 pixels that features BrightView technology. Also, the new laptop comes with a multi format memory card reader that supports Memory Stick, Memory Stick Pro, SD/MMC, SmartMedia and xD Picture Card.

The connectivity area of HP?s Pavilion dv8000 is starring 10/100 Ethernet, V.92 modem, four USB 2.0 ports and Firewire. Wireless connectivity is completed with Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g and IR (infrared). Moreover, S-video and VGA ports can be found.
