Back in June, I told you HP was prepping an Android-powered laptop, a piece of news that sparked interest in some circles because there aren’t many notebooks running this OS.

After being announced some time ago, the HP SlateBook is finally shipping out to willing consumers, but sadly, it comes with a higher than expected price tag.

The device can be yours for $429 / €320, which is $30 / €22 more than the company originally said it would sell for.

The laptop is equipped with a 14-inch screen capable of offering full HD resolution (1920 x 1080 pixels), while power comes from an NVIDIA Tegra 4 quad-core SOC with four ARM Cortex-15 cores clocked at 1.8GHz. The notebook is fitted with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of flash memory.

The specification list also includes N-WLAN, Bluetooth 4.0, HD webcam, dual microphones, HDMI port (can handle up to 4K), 1 USB 3.0 port, two USB 2.0 ports, Beats Audio support (this might be your last chance of picking up a HP laptop with Beats), Miracast, and a 32Whr battery, capable of bestowing 9-10 hours of usage, which is quite decent.

Last but not least, the lappy runs Android 4.2 Jelly Bean out of the box, so you’ll be able to take advantage of key Android apps, like Skype.

So if you're on the market for a medium-range laptop and you don't want Windows, you might want to consider the SlateBook.
