The tablet is actually a rebranded version of NVIDIA’s Tegra Note slate

Back in September, HP introduced the Slate 7 Extreme among a bunch of other tablets, but this model in particular drew attention. And paradoxically, the product wasn't even built by HP, but was actually a re-branded version of NVIDIA’s Tegra Note.

Since then, lots of other third-party re-sellers have jumped onboard of the NVIDIA tablet bandwagon and have started offering their own version. HP arrives late to the party, and after four long months it manages to make the slate available in its official webshop.

The HP Slate 7 is powered by a Tegra 4 processor, but just yesterday NVIDIA announced the 192-core Tegra K1 processor, which can be improperly called its successor. The manufacturing company claimed the chip is so advanced “that it’s almost inappropriate to call it a Tegra 5,” so in all possibility HP hasn't picked the best moment to do this.

Nevertheless, the HP Slate 7 sells at a competitive price for $199 / €146, so it might still draw customers in. The device comes bundled with a smart stylus that works in a more intuitive way to provide different modes of depth and input thickness.
