Now that Acer, Toshiba, Sony and ASUS have come out and released a whole slew of new laptops and desktops, Hewlett-Packard looks as though it's ready to begin its turn at unveiling new computers of its own. The company doesn't seem inclined to mimic their performance, however. While its peers mostly focused on the consumer front, where demand was spurred by the holidays and the approach of the back-to-school period, HP apparently decided to see to the needs of the professional and enterprise market. To this end, it put together the Compaq 6000 Pro.

The Compaq 6000 Pro is, essentially, an all-in-one computer intended for enterprise users and professionals. It has a LED-backlit LCD panel measuring 21.5-inches and boasting a native resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels (Full HD). Coupled with the Windows 7 Professional 32bit or 64bit operating system, this display should enable a fairly high level of productivity, especially considering the presence of the bundled SkyRoom videoconferencing collaboration tool.

Needless to say, the actual hardware inside the machine is nothing to be frowned upon. At the heart of it all lies an Intel Core 2 Duo CPU, backed by up to 8GB of RAM and MXM discrete graphics. A DVD writer is also present, as is a 6-in-1 card reader. As for internal storage, there is the option of an 80GB SSD and the possibility of putting in a hard disk drive of up to 1TB. Other specifications of the AiO include an optional TV tuner, Bluetooth and a TPM 1.2-compliant embedded security chip.

“Our first enterprise-class all-in-one was designed with the reliability, security, manageability and stability our customers expect from the HP Compaq 6000 Pro series,” said Alan Reed, vice president and general manager, Desktop PCs, Personal Systems Group, HP. “The 6000 Pro All-in-One offers a great mix of performance, integrated features and sleek design for no-compromise computing at a great price.”

HP intends to start shipping the Compaq 600 Pro on July 16, with a starting price of $899.
