Palo Alto, California-based HP has just announced an update to its series of Pavilion Elite desktop computer systems, with the introduction of the new m9600 series of desktops. Designed with high performance in mind, the new series of desktop computers from HP has been fitted with one of Intel's Nehalem-based Core i7 processors and supports an impressive 12GB of RAM memory. In addition to the new Pavilion desktop, HP has also announced four new LCD 16:9 monitors, designed to provide users with a wide range of display sizes and with prices ranging from $170 to $300.

“Media enthusiasts and creators need high performance, tons of storage and high definition. Customers will find this model a total package and a great value,” said John Cook, vice president, Marketing, Worldwide Consumer PC Business, HP. “Our highly compelling solutions help to explain why customers all over the world have made HP the global leader in consumer PCs.”

According to the PC vendor, the new Pavilion Elite m9600 desktop comes with a basic configuration that offers a Core i7 920 processor, an NVIDIA 9600GS graphics solution, 500GB hard drive and a SuperMulti DVD burner. Configuration options include a Blu-ray DVD writer or an ATI Radeon HD 4850 graphics card. This model starts with a price tag of $949, but higher priced models can provide you with a Core i7 940 processor, up to 1TB of storage space and 12GB of RAM memory. Such a configuration would be ideal for high-end users who use performance-demanding applications such as video editing.

In addition to the new Pavilion Elite desktop rig, HP has also rolled out four new wide-screen monitors, designed to deliver a true high-definition experience. These four, the 18.5-inch diagonal w1858, 20-inch diagonal 2009m, 21.5-inch diagonal 2159m and 23-inch diagonal w2338h are meant to satisfy the requirements of a wide range of consumers.
