True to its status as leading PC supplier, HP has just announced the coming of a whole new collection of mobile computers, one of which is the ENVY 17 3D, a notebook that, as its name implies, has a screen size of 17 inches and support for advanced multimedia, even 3D.

The ENVY 17 3D is a notebook at whose heart lies an Intel Core i7 high-end central processing unit, and this already sets a fairly high level of performance.

This CPU is paired with the ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5850 discrete graphics and up to 2TB of storage space.

Also, the 17.3-inch HP 3D Ultra BrightView Display is fully capable of 1080p playback (Full HD) in 3D, a functionality aided by the bundled active shutter glasses.

What's more, the mobile computer features the ATI EyeFinity technology, which allows for spreading the display area over three monitors, enabling a higher level of immersion.

“With these new technology and design enhancements, we are offering customers visually stunning entertainment and an overall better computing experience,” said Kevin Frost, vice president and general manager, Consumer Notebooks, Personal Systems Group, HP.

“These new HP notebooks and accessories deliver breakthrough technology, power and advanced styling to satisfy the most discerning user,” he added.

The company designed its new system with a precision-etched brushed aluminum chassis that confers a “sleek and stylish exterior” upon the device, so that its looks may “match its powerful interior.”

All in all, this newcomer promises to handle any and all sort of multimedia files of up to Full HD quality and will display flawless images in both 2D and 3D.

Unfortunately, there is no information on pricing and the availability details are quite vague. According to the press release, shipments of this machine should commence sometime during the holiday season.
