Apple has released a new update for users of HP LaserJet printers, this time addressing an issue where printing to an HP LaserJet may not work if you select a Printer Preset other than the "Standard" Printer Preset. No additional support for other printers has been added, but the update is recommended for all users of an HP LaserJet printer.

Resolution

Download and install the HP Printer Driver 1.1.1 Update or later. The company behind the Mac OS X operating system notes that the information it lists on its Support page about products not manufactured by Apple is provided for information purposes only and does not constitute Apple’s recommendation or endorsement. For additional info on your third-party hardware, you are advised to contact the vendor -  in this case, the folks at HP.

Naturally, the Lexmark Printer Driver 1.1.1 supersedes the latest printer drivers and includes all the recent enhancements. Should you update using the Software Update mechanism (Apple Menu > Software Update), the Lexmark printer must be connected to your computer or at least have an existing print queue on the machine.

The Lexmark Printer Driver 1.1 is a heavy 405.1 MB update, and the installer package can be downloaded HERE for free. You can choose to download the update now and, if your printer is not connected to your Mac, or if a print queue has not yet been created for an earlier version, you can update whenever the printer is connected. Alternately, if the above-noted requirements are met, choose Software Update from the Apple Menu, select the HP Printer Driver Update 1.1.1 from the list of available updates, and hit install.

The full list of Printer drivers included in the latest HP Printer Driver Update (for Mac OS X 10.5.3 or later) is available on Apple's Support page here.
