HP has recently released the company's latest entry-level NonStop server system - HP Integrity NonStop NS1000 Server - which targets the business segment, especially the smaller companies in healthcare, financial services and telecommunications.

The manufacturer guarantees for a 24/7 access to any vital application the team of professionals might need at a certain time, and overall performances of the system in order to meet the most demanding requirements of all specialized users.

Moreover, HP's NS1000 is said to be perfectly cost-effective, as its price, which hasn't been revealed yet, doesn't reflect the server system's capabilities.

The manufacturer gave the example of how this new server can provide the best for small financial services industry, as it can serve like a core of ATM and point-of-sale transactions, offering a wide range of operating systems, hardware, database and software in only one system.

"No competitive offering on the market today comes close to delivering 'five nines' availability - 99.999% uptime over the course of a year - at this price," said Craig Wagner, director, marketing and solutions, NonStop Enterprise Division, HP.

The HP NS1000 server is created on a special and advanced NonStop Value Architecture. This means that the hardware components are matched up with the software capabilities such as software fault tolerance/fault isolation, dynamic workload balancing, linear scalability, application virtualization and cluster programming transparency.

Because it was developed for the business segment, the server features Intel Itanium 2 processors, more exactly between two and eight processors depending on the needs of the client, also several storage capacities between four and eight gigabytes, and the possibility to hook up to 32 terabytes of disk storage per system using internal disks and 1.3 GHz/3 megabyte cache.

"For customers seeking an affordable, continuously available environment right out of the box, the search ends with the HP Integrity NonStop NS1000 Server. There is a large segment of smaller enterprise customers that tends to be priced out of market for high-end, fault-tolerant servers," said Stephen L. Josselyn, research director, IDC.
