If you would happen to take a look at a list with all the manufacturers that sell 3D-enabled laptop bundled with 3D active shutter glasses you would see that HP is strangely missing from it, but this won't be the case anymore since the company has just released the Envy 17 3D notebook.

Powered by a Core i7-720QM quad-core processor this thing comes with 6GB of DDR3 memory, a 500GB 7200RPM hard drive as well as 17.3" 1080p 3D UltraBrightView Infinity LED LCD, quite a departure from the usual Envy 17 that features “only” a Core i5 processor and a HD+ resolution display in its standard configuration.

The necessary graphics power is delivered by an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5850 GPU with a rather impressive 1GB of video memory, such a powerful video card being required in order to maintain an adequate frame rate for 3D gaming.

Apart from these changes, the remaining hardware configuration remained unchanged from the standard Envy 17, HP's offering featuring an Blu-ray optical drive, TruVision HD Webcam, a backlit keyboard as well as 802.11 b/g/n and Bluetooth connectivity.

Other features include a 5-in-1 integrated card reader, 3 USB 2.0 ports (one of them being shard with an eSATA connector), HDMI and mini-DisplayPort video outputs as well as a SuperSpeed USB 3.0 port for attaching your last gen USB external storage solutions.

Hardware wise, HP allows users to spice things up even more, the Envy 17 3D being also available with faster quad-core processors (up to Core i7-840QM) as well as 8GB of RAM and 2TB of storage space, HP allowing you to configure this with regular HDD or SSD drives or any combination of the two since it supports dual 2.5 internal storage devices.

All of these won't however come cheaply, the Envy 17 3D notebook being retailed for $1,599 in the standard configuration, quite a departure from the $1,299 asked for the regular Envy 17. (via CrunchGear)
