HP is trying to stretch out and appeal to developing markets as well. With this in mind, the company has just released three new tablet models aimed at the Chinese market.

The PC manufacturer will be introducing the models under the Compaq name, aiming to entice the imagination of the wallet conscious consumer, says Chinese website Yesky.

First off, we have the Compaq 7, a 7-inch TN display device with a resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels, which doesn’t bring much in terms of screen accuracy. If you want more, we suggest looking at the Compaq 7+, an improved version of the first slate that comes with an IPS display.

The last of the trio, the Compaq 8 slate boasts a slightly larger 7.85-inch IPS display with a resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels.

All the three models draw their power from an Allwinner A31S ARM Cortex-A7 quad-core processor coupled with PowerVR SGX544MP2 graphics and 1GB of RAM. Customers can choose between 8GB or 16GB of storage and Android 4.2 is the default operating system on board.

Pricing availability for the models starts at CNY 999 / $160 / €120. China is a developing market that most manufacturers are hoping to tap into with cheaper mid-range devices. HP has also recently launched new HP slates in the US, but with improved capabilities.
