HP, being the world-leading supplier of personal computers that it is, always has some new machine or line of products in the works, much like everyone else in the IT industry, and it looks like two new ones are about to be launched as part of the Elitebook line.

HP Elitebook laptops are the sort of mobile computer that are neither too small nor too large, essentially fitting into the ultrathin/ultraportable category, more or less.

Specifically, they have a fairly thin frame compared to bulky, albeit powerful, notebooks, while having a screen size just slightly larger than the one used for netbooks.

That said, HP hasn't exactly stepped up and offered a press release to detail the arrival of any such machines.

In fact, the company didn't actually offer a preview on them either, although a certain PDF document did show up on its servers.

Said document reveals that the outfit has, in fact, been working on the EliteBook 2560p and 2760p, which should end up taking the places of the 2540p (ultraportable) and 2740p (probably more of a convertible tablet). They measure 12.1 inches each.

That said, their screens have a native resolution of 1,440 x 900 pixels, not exactly Full but still beyond the 1366 x 768 pixels ((HD) that is so often encountered.

At their hearts should lie Intel processors, standard-voltage Core i7 units belonging to the 2011 second generation that is. These CPUs themselves have their own integrated HD graphics.

No doubt DiplayPort outputs as well as USB 3.0 ports will be present, although HP will have to get around to actually making the launch before such things as storage and exact connectivity details really become known.

Once sales start, HP will no doubt have to contend with opposition on the part of such products as Lenovo's X220.
