HP is a prolific player when it comes to the professional sector. Back in October, the computer manufacturer launched a whole host of business notebooks and convertibles like the EliteBook 800, ProBook 400 and 600 and Pro X2 Spectre.

But the roll-out omitted one category in particular, as HP didn’t have any professional tablet device to show off. But a few months later, we finally have word, curtsey of the Dutch site TabletGuide, that the computer manufacturing is working on a new slate from the ElitePad family destined at enterprises.

Currently on the market we have the ElitePad 900, with the upcoming HP ElitePad 1000 G2 being the successor. Some traces confirming the existence of the professional tablet were unearthed in the FCC database, but the details are scarce.

It appears that the HP Elite 1000 will provide Wi-Fi and Bluetooth but also NFC. Some tests conducted by the US governmental agency were conducted on an LTE antenna, hence it can be hypothesized HP will eventually launch a 4G model too.

But let’s take a look at the current model and see where HP might upgrade things a little bit. The HP ElitePad 900 features a 10.1-inch capacitive multi-touch panel with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels.

The display is coated by a protective layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 2 which means the screen is scratch resistant, an useful feat to have in some professional situations.

HP has added an Intel Atom Z2760 from the Clover Trail family clocked 1.5GHz that can be increased up to 1.8GHz. Performance is aided by 2GB of RAM and the producing company offers a choice between 32GB or 64GB of internal storage.

Judging by these specifications, HP is expected to boost things a little in the processor department, by adding the latest Intel Bay Trail architecture and maybe upgrading the resolution.

We’ll keep you posted as more information about the professional slate starts to emerge.
