Though best known for being the top supplier of personal computers, HP deals in more than just PCs, as is evident by the fact that, very soon, it will provide US stores with a new liquid crystal display, the 23-inch 2310e.

There are many criteria that have to be met by a monitor in order to classify as part of any of the product categories most suited to a specific market segment.

In the case of displays, the main determining factors are, besides the obvious native resolution, the contrast ratio, the brightness, the response time and the power consumption, among other things.

Apparently, HP intends to soon release, in the US, a monitor that apparently situates in the higher levels of the market.

Known as the 2310e, the product is a liquid crystal display which uses WLED backlighting, this asset being mirrored by the rest of the performance numbers.

For one, the 2310e has a native resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels, which means that Full HD multimedia is fully supported.

Another asset is the dynamic contrast ratio of a full 8,000,000:1, complemented by the brightness of 250 nits.

HP also gave its latest creation a response time of 4ms and connectivity with a wide range of video cards, though DVI, HDMI and DisplayPort 1.1 connectors.

Finally, the company put in capacitive touch controls on the front, to allow one to manipulate image width, color contrast etc.

Other specifications include the BrightView technology, which reduces the glare effect, a 70 percent Color Gamut and compatibility with ATI Eyefinity.

As for eco-friendliness, consumers may be intrigued to find out that the entire electronic is constructed with mercury-free WLED, BFR/PVC-free plastics, arsenic-free display glass and mostly recyclable materials.

Those thinking of acquiring this model will be interested in knowing that the HP 2310e is sold for $290, along with a one-year warranty.
