Palo Alto, California-based system vendor HP has just announced the introduction of its new mobile thin client dubbed HP 4410t Mobile Thin Client. Designed to provide its users with enhanced security for server-based computing, this new portable system from HP is said to be capable of reducing the IT workload. In addition to the new mobile thin client, HP also announced a series of hardware and software enhancements to its thin client portfolio, specifically designed to help companies improve security and productivity, as well as reduce their resource consumption.

“We’re offering businesses a highly secure, manageable and easy-to-deploy virtualization solution that combines HP’s industry-leading thin client and notebook technologies,” said Carol Hess-Nickels, director, Worldwide Business Notebook Marketing, Personal Systems Group, HP. “The new HP 4410t Mobile Thin Client leverages HP engineering and design expertise to deliver true notebook performance that customers can deploy in the office or in the field.”

HP's new 4410t has been featured with a 14-inch widescreen LED display and weighs in at 4.3 pounds. It has been designed on the company's recently announced ProBook series and includes a number of security features, specifically targeted at the business consumer. Additional features include a full-sized, spill-resistant keyboard with an integrated touch pad, optional DVD-ROM and a suite of software applications designed to increase productivity.

HP also announced that several of its desktop thin clients, including the HP t5145, HP t5540, HP t5545, HP t5630 and HP t5630w models, met the specifications of the new ENERGY STAR 5 rating. The Linux-based HP t5545 and the Windows CE-based t5540 models have been featured with several enhancements to provide easier integration with VMWare View and Citrix XenDesktop environments.

As for pricing, the HP 4410t Mobile Thin Client will be available in mid-July for a starting price of US$549, while the HP thin client with 5.0 specifications are already available for a starting price of just US$199.
