Nvidia Corporation, the worldwide leader in programmable graphics processor technologies, today announced that Nvidia GeForce graphics processing units (GPUs) and Nvidia nForce media communications processors (MCPs) are available in the latest models of HP's consumer notebook PCs.

More precisely, Nvidia technology is available in three new HP consumer models, including HP Pavilion dv6000 Entertainment Notebook PC, a 15.4-inch widescreen model power-driven by the Nvidia GeForce Go 6150 integrated graphics processor and nForce Go 430 chipset, and in HP Pavilion dv9000 Entertainment Notebook PC, featuring a 17-inch widescreen with graphics and video powered by the high-performance GeForce Go 7600 GPU combined with the Nvidia nForce Go 430 MCP. Moreover, the Compaq Presario V6000 notebook PC, a 15.4-inch widescreen model, comes with the Nvidia GeForce Go 6150 integrated graphics processor and nForce Go 430 chipset.

"The presence of Nvidia GeForce GPU and Nvidia nForce MCP solutions in these HP notebooks signals the increasing use of GPUs for mainstream PCs,"said Jeff Fisher, Senior Vice President of the GPU Business at Nvidia. "Consumers will experience dramatically improved graphics, gaming, and video in these notebooks, with the long battery life they have come to expect."

The Nvidia GeForce GPUs and nForce MCPs feature special developed technologies such as PowerMizer for reduced power consumption and less heat, enabling cooler and smaller notebooks with increased battery life, support for DirectX 9.0 Shader Model 3.0 for more realism in 3D games and applications, and enhanced performance 3D architecture built for Microsoft Windows Vista, the first operating system to require a GPU to realize its full potential.

"At HP we strive to enable the best customer experiences," said Jonathan Kaye, director of consumer notebooks product marketing at HP. "Working with the Nvidia GeForce GPUs has enabled HP to deliver high-performance and leading-edge image quality to our mobile customers, allowing them to enjoy the full benefits of the latest notebook technology whether for entertainment, home office or any digital lifestyle application."

The new AMD-based notebooks with Nvidia GPUs are already supported by select HP models from July 12.
