Designed for space efficiency with little to no impact on performance

HP has already stirred a ruckus around the web, regardless of how indirectly, now that the specifications of its upcoming Slate PC have made themselves known to the world. Nevertheless, it seems that the company isn't content with being known for only what it might be doing and, as such, it has brought out a team of three compact desktop PCs known as the Pavilion Slimline s5305z, Slimline s5350z and Pavilion Elite HPE-190t.

The Pavilion Elite HPE-190t, as its name suggests, is the performance king of the three, having the most capable CPU, graphics and memory options. At the core of the configuration lies an Intel Core i7-980X hexa-core central processing unit, which has a clock frequency of 3.33Ghz. This processor is accompanied by up to 3TB of storage space and a maximum storage capacity of no less than 24GB. In addition, graphics capabilities range from the more modest NVIDIA GeForce GT220 and AMD Radeon HD 4850 to the DirectX 11-capable HD 5570. There is also the option of a Blu-ray player/writer.

Taking the second position, performance-wise, is the Slimline s5350z. Instead of a six-core chip, this PC runs on the quad-core AMD Phenom II X4 CPU or the Athlon II X4. There are also 1.5TB of storage space, a DVD/Blu-ray drive, up to 8GB of memory and NVIDIA graphics, either the integrated GeForce 9100 or the discrete GeForce G210 or GeForce GT 220. Of course, AMD fans can opt for a Radeon HD 4350 instead, if they wish.

The last in the series, the Slimline s5305z, is the least capable of the lot but still packs a reasonable level of performance. With a Sempron or Athlon II CPU at its core, the system features up to 4GB of RAM, up to 750GB of storage and a DVD/Blu-ray drive. Finally, this desktop also comes with a choice between multiple graphics solutions, namely the integrated GeForce 6150 SE or the discrete Radeon HD 4350, HD 5450, GeForce G210 or GeForce GT 220.

The Pavilion Slimline s5305z, Slimline s5350z and Pavilion Elite HPE-190t have starting prices of $299.99, $479.99, and $1,899.99, respectively, and come pre-loaded with Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.
