Quite a few products were launched this past weekend and on Monday (May 6, 2013) and among them, there was a full collection of mobile personal computers from Hewlett-Packard.

Though calling them personal computers may not be the best way to refer to them, since they are actually business notebooks more likely to land in offices than homes.

Then again, regardless of where they will be, they will still only be used by one person, unless they are installed in a computer lab with open access, so they are still personal computers in that context. But we digress.

The name of the new line of notebooks from HP is ProBook 400.

Screen sizes are of 13.3 inches, 14 inches, 15.6 inches and 17.3 inches, while CPU options are both Intel and AMD.

Storage and memory hardware can be customized according to taste, funds and needs. There is even a hybrid drive option with SSD performance and HDD capacity.

"Our SMB customers often play multiple roles within their organization - from managers to accounting to IT - and they require flexible, high-performance tools to complete their varied business tasks," said Chris Ogburn, director, Americas small and medium-sized business and channel marketing, HP.

"HP is focused on providing user-friendly technologies that improve performance and empower our customers, tearing down productivity barriers with ultra mobile and powerful solutions."

The HP ProBook 400 laptops will have optional 4G WWAN support, HP Client Security, Skype and DTS Sound+ for audio and video conferencing.

Sales will start this month (May 2013), in the United States at least, for $499 (€499) or above.

In addition to the HP ProBook 400, the company is preparing ProBook 200 in 15.6- and 14-inch screen sizes. These ones start at $249 / €249 and possess HP 3D DriveGuard (which protect them regardless of location) and “feature a user-friendly design for easy content creation and consumption at work or home.”
