Glossy black frame houses a Full HD, LED-backlit panel

While getting over all the strangeness of late, HP has prepared, among other things, a new 3D display that, unlike most Full HD panels, works just fine with 3D passive glasses.

The new 23-inch, TN panel monitor that HP created should find quite a few adopters among the ranks of those who want 3D but don't exactly fancy big, bulky glasses.

That is because, thanks to the FPR (Film Patterned Retarder) technology, it can work with light 3D passive glasses instead of demanding, big and heavy active shutter ones.

That said, the specifications of the panel are what one would expect from a Full HD product (resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels).

The brightness is 250 cd/m2, or 100 cd/m2 during 3D mode, which should work well enough, especially when ambient light is low.

Speaking of 3D, the display can convert 2D still photos, movies, games and other videos into 3D at any time.

Of course, here must come a mention of the CyberLink software, which allows for such operations to be accomplished in real-time.

HP also made sure to include, in the product bundle, the TriDef 3D Ignition Game Player, which is particularly geared towards playing online or PC games in 3D.

Getting back to the technical numbers, the DCR (dynamic contrast ratio) is 3,000,000:1, corresponding to a static ratio of 1.000:1.

The LED backlighting is largely responsible for these parameters, as well as for the Energy Star 5.0 energy efficiency rating (power consumption is 33 watts).

Other features include HDMI, DVI and D-Sub inputs, as well as a response time of 5 ms and a (pre-order, for now) price of 273.12 Euro ($382.31). Buyers will get two pairs of glasses along with the monitor.
