On the web

I must admit this is something new and pretty interesting for the security world, as a new spam attack has been spotted in Brazil. Jake Soriano, of Trend Micro, today reported that a new spam campaign, concerning the Brazil fans of the local version of Big Brother, was discovered, numerous messages being sent to the regional inboxes. It seems like the email message claims that Diego Bissolati Gasques, the winner of the seventh Big Brother Brazil edition, got infected with HIV. In order to get more information about the case, the readers are asked to click on a URL which obviously redirects them to malicious files aiming to be deployed on their systems.

"Exclusive Material. The German guy tells, for the first time, how he got HIV. Since today, everything will be different for the German guy, not for his fans, not for being the Brazil Big Brother winner, but for being an HIV carrier. In a complete report, he tells how he got infected, how was it and how he was evading the problem", the email message reads according to Jose Lopez Tello, Trend Micro Virus Coordinator in Latin America, who translated the message.

In case you're one of the curious readers out there, you should really avoid clicking on the links inside these emails because they may be really dangerous for your computer and for the data stored on it. According to the blog post published on Trend Micro's page, the URLs redirect the users to a malicious page which attempts to push a download of the "Complete Material".

The security company identified the file as TROJ_DLOADER.RSP, a Trojan horse that may be able to infect most Windows versions. You're recommended to avoid visiting the URLs included in the unsolicited messages and ignore these emails as soon as they reach the inbox.
