End-users will likely have already learned that Advanced Micro Devices made the formal introduction of its new, dual-GPU graphics card recently, and it seems this prompted HIS to do something similar.

Not long ago, Sunnyvale, California-based Advanced Micro Devices came forth and officially launched its newest video card, the Radeon HD 6990.

Coincidentally, this also happens to be the most powerful consumer-oriented video adapter ever created.

While that may change when NVIDIA shows off its own dual-chip card, the fact is that AMD has the performance crown on the graphics card market. Granted, it had it before as well, since the HD 5970 was also its offspring.

Regardless, AMD's partners are, of course, showing off their own, custom models, and it seems HIS did not fall behind.

Hightech Information System built the 6990 Fan 4GB GDDR5, which has 3,027 Stream Processors, a GDDR5 VRAM frequency of 5,000 MHz and an interface of 256 bits.

Needless to say, hardcore gamers will have trouble finding any title or application capable of giving this beast trouble.

AMD Eyefinity, for 3-display scenarios, as well as the Eye-Definition and AMD EyeSpeed technologies are all supported as well.

HIS decided to even boost its products' chances by offering things capable of complementing or supplementing the built-in HDMI 1.4a and the DisplayPort 1.2, as well as the DirectX 11 and stereoscopic 3D support.

Specifically, the product bundle includes an HIS Exclusive Mini Display Port to Display Port dongle, as well as a Mini Display Port to Single Link DVI (Active) dongle.

Full information can be found on the official product page that HIS has added to its website. The price should be the same as the stock card, $700, give or take.

What remains is to see how HIS fares in competition against AMD's other partners, whose own 6990 models will rival the HD 6990 Fan 4GB GDDR5.
