Finding video boards that use other interfaces than the PCI Express is quite difficult on today's market, but not impossible, thanks to companies like HIS, which just revealed a new iteration of an AMD entry-level video board.

Advanced Micro Devices has had mainstream and entry-level HD 5000 Series graphics adapters on sale for months.

However, while the lower-end models did use little power and had modest capabilities overall, they still mostly stuck to the PCI Express interface.

HIS has now entered the spotlight in order to release a board that does not feature this 'restriction,' namely a version of the AMD Radeon HD 5450.

Dubbed HIS 5450 Silence, it is designed as a high-profile single-slot video controller, although a pair of low profile Brackets let it fit inside half-height slots as well.

Regardless, that is just one extra asset of the card, as its truly unusual trait is that it is made to fit inside regular PCI slots.

The Radeon 5400 GPU (graphics processing unit) has a clock speed of 650 MHz, while the 512 MB of DDR3 (64bit) operate at 1,000 MHz.

Additionally, the newcomer boasts multiple video outputs, not just DVI and VGA, but even an HDMI connector.

“With stunning high definition entertainment from your PC, gamers will enjoy the ultimate immersive gaming experience with innovative "wrap around" multi-display capabilities,” says the press release.

Granted, since it's a low-end card, more graphically-demanding games won't really have much chance of working, but multimedia files should still be handled perfectly.

Finally, as the name suggests, no noise is produced because of the passive cooler that the company chose to utilize.

“With the silent passive cooling heatsink implemented, HIS Radeon HD 5450 Silence is our ultimate media center companion at a value price.”

The HIS 5450 Silence is already up for sale online, at a price of $94.99, or seen in detail here.
