Harmonix and MTV Games have announced that this week gamers who are eager to get some new tracks for their Rock Band parties will be able to download songs from HIM, One Night Only, The Police, KSM and Marilyn Manson. All the tracks are actual master recording and with them the number of artists featured in the Rock Band Music Store has surpassed 400, the number of tracks being over 1,000.

Fans of Finland-based rockers HIM will be able to download two songs, “Heartkiller” and “Ode to Solitude,” which are taken from their most recent studio album, called “Screamworks: Love in Theory and Practice, Chapters 1–13,” while also getting one of their earlier hits, “Wings of a Butterfly” that came out in 2005. The songs can be downloaded individually or as a pack.

The other tracks released this week include: “Distracted” from KSM; “The Dope Show” by Marilyn Manson; “Just For Tonight” from One Night Only and The Police singing “Walking On the Moon.” The tracks are available today, February 23, on the Xbox 360 and on the Nintendo Wii, while PlayStation 3 gamers have to wait until February 25.

Harmonix and MTV Games have confirmed that their main focus in 2010 will be the launch of Green Day Rock Band, a music simulation title that will explore the career and influences of the punk band that achieved world wide recognition.

There are also some rumors related to Rock Band 3, which might be less interested in offering the same experience as the second game in the series and might aim to allow players to improve their real-life instrument skills. Recently, an article that appeared in a Los Angeles newspaper also mentioned the possibility of a Jimi Hendrix Rock Band videogame being in the early stages of development.
