Premium television network HBO is currently in the process of cleaning its line-up of shows. Yet another of its award winning series won't be making a comeback next year. This time, it's Aaron Sorkin's “The Newsroom” the network has said goodbye to.

After last week it was announced that “Boardwalk Empire” will be ending after its fourth season, now it's been said that “The Newsroom” will also go off the air after its third season.

The announcement was made by HBO programming president Michael Lombardo on Monday, January 13, when he said “’The Newsroom’ is classic Aaron Sorkin – smart, riveting and thought-provoking. I'm sure this farewell season will be one to remember.”

The first to hint at a possible end was lead actor Jeff Daniels who plays anchor Will McAvoy on the drama series. The Emmy Award winner announced back in September that they were still working on the schedule for the third season with the series creator.

The production for the final season will be kicking off this spring, getting ready for a premiere during autumn.
