As demoed at Ubidays

As Ubidays wrapped up, there's a constant trickle of news coming out regarding the games that Ubisoft plans to push out onto the market during this year and into the next. And one of the more exciting things on offer from Ubisoft is HAWX, a game that, after a long time, hopes to give gamers a taste of combat flight at its best.

Andrei Costin, from the Bucharest studio of Ubisoft, the guy that was demoing the game at Ubidays, gave Eurogamer some tidbits of information regarding HAWX. The most important of them is that voice commands are present in the game and will be used mainly to direct the way your squad mates perform in the air. Ubisoft has at least another upcoming title that is set to use voice commands for reinforcement calls, Tom Clancy's End War, and it seems pretty confident that players will be able to rely on voice commands for some of the in-game action while also focusing on the combat. It all depends really on what sequence of words the players will have to memorize.

Demonstration of the game in action also showed the fact that it features seamless co-op drop in and drop out, with the computer more than able of supplementing the wingman if he leaves the game. It will be interesting to see how voice commands work as two players are engaged in co-op play.

HAWX aims to portray a future in which Private Military Contractors are the de facto military forces of many nations. As they begin to threaten the stability of the world, HAWX is deployed against them. The organization is made up of the best pilots, that receive the best training and have experimental aircraft with which to play.

The game will be part simulation and part arcade, with a lot of help for the pilot in the initial stages of the game. As the game progresses, the player can de-activate some of the systems that aid in the command of the plane to create a more challenging game.
