Although most photographers attach external flash units to their DSLRs in order to obtain a better level of light within their shots, the people over at Hama have come up with a slightly different solution, that still delivers quite an impressive level of lighting, while in the same time requiring just a low amount of battery power.

The device in question is called the LED Slim Panel and offers photographers more creative options, bringing forth an extra amount of light that can prove to be extremely useful in certain specific situations.

Practically, the device, that sports no less than 40 dimmable LED lights, enables users to leverage the advantages provided by continuous light, most visible when shooting macros or recording video in poorly-lit rooms.

Although it's roughly the size of a larger matchbox, the LED Slim Panel offers some pretty OK lighting capabilities, with a 6,800K raw color temperature and a 6,500K color temperature when applying a diffuser, or just around 3,400 K when applying an orange filter.

The overall brightness level can reach up to 1,670 lux/1 m, which is actually not that bad, taking into account the size of this lighting solution.

Plus, carrying this extra lighting accessory around shouldn't be much of an issue for anyone, given the fact that it measures 8 x 5 x 2 cm.

We'll also have to mention that the LED lamp from Hama is relatively efficient as far as its level of power consumption is concerned as well, given the fact that a set of 3 x AAA batteries will grant this thing around one full hour of functioning life (we'd hoped for a bit more, but that's not too shabby, either).

Now, tackling the topics of pricing and availability, we'll have to point out that the new Hama LED Slim Panel is already available for purchase for around 129 Euro (or roughly 180 US dollars), which is certainly an interesting price point, especially if the device really manages to actually deliver the extra level of quality for one's photos advertised by the manufacturers.
