Before attending the 2010 MTV Movie Awards, Sandra Bullock taped an appearance on another gala: Spike TV’s Guys’ Choice Awards, a ceremony that airs on June 20 and where she received the Troops’ Choice Award for Entertainer of the Year, MTV News says. Other winners included Charlize Theron, Leonardo DiCaprio and Scarlett Johansson.

However, it was Bullock’s acceptance speech that got most people tingling with joy at the thought that personal turmoil had not deprived her of her sense of humor. Sandra used the opportunity to thank the military for sacrificing whatever they have best in their life so that she can follow her dream and act, for a few seconds even setting aside the jokes and being just her sweet and honest self.

“On Saturday night, a day before Sandra Bullock’s appearance at the MTV Movie Awards to accept the Generation Award, the actress took the stage at Spike TV’s Guys’ Choice Awards, which air June 20. Dressed in a body-hugging leather dress, Bullock was there to accept the Troops Choice Award for Entertainer of the Year, chosen by members of the military,” MTV says of what is officially Bullock’s first public appearance since the cheating scandal that tore her marriage to Jesse James apart.

“Let’s be honest here, just for a moment. We’re all going to be honest, right?” Bullock began by saying. “Did I win this for being entertainer of the year, or did I win this because of the spectacular I.E.D. [improvised explosive device] explosion that became my personal life? It’s OK, because I would do it over and over again if it was to entertain our troops,” the actress added.

Other winners included Charlize Theron, who took home an award for a Decade of Hotness and Leonardo DiCaprio, who took home the statuette for the Most Manticipated Movie of the Year for “Inception” by director Chris Nolan.
