The Gulf Organization for Research and Development, the developer of the Qatar Sustainability Assessment System (QSAS), introduced on the market “The International Journal of Sustainable Built Environment”.

They organized an event which gathered representatives from the most important organizations and publications that have expressed, throughout their work, their interest towards eco-friendly values.

The International Journal of Sustainable Built Environment is a bi-annual scientific publication that focuses its attention on finding environmental sustainable solutions to several issues that threaten the environment in the present.

By introducing the International Journal of Sustainable Built Environment, the organization wants to increase the level of awareness regarding matters which concern the environment, while promoting the image of QSAS as the developer of one of the most comprehensible, earth-friendly systems in the world.

The officials from QSAS joined efforts to provide solutions to problems such as global warming, the growth of CO2 emissions, by creating a sustainable civilized environment, and adopting strategies which will protect the natural resources.

The organization doesn't wish to limit its influence to Qatar and the Gulf region. It plans to grow and expand its objectives on an international scale, showing its concern towards issues which regard the environment worldwide.

To make this strategy possible, QSAS has decided to work in partnership with prestigious academic organizations, which share the same ideals, such as University of Aberdeen, The Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers, University College London, University of Reading, and Fraunhofer Institute for Physical Measurement Techniques.

The organization hopes that these institutions will contribute to finding and developing long-term strategies which will explore their potential in order to come up with sustainable solutions. They hope that their findings will be able to improve the construction field.

These improvements regard measures such as a lower level of energy consumption, CO2 emissions, a growth in the socio-economic sector and last, but not least, the capacity of facing several other environmental challenges.

The new universities and organizations QSAS has decided to work with should be able to offer technical solutions and consultation, tools for modern research and also training programs which should educate the public and increase the level of awareness regarding earth-friendly values.

Their knowledge is expected to lead to implemented solutions which will reflect themselves throughout the design and construction of green buildings all around the globe.

As we speak, the organization is collaborating with University of Reading Fraunhofer IPM to come up with better ways of developing sustainable materials and hybrid solar systems that will be used to construct eco-friendly headquarters.

Introducing a journal on the market represents the first step towards the organization's fight with environmental threats.

“No doubt, the launch of this journal is a great step forward in our strategy to facilitate the transfer of expertise, knowledge and information on sustainability, as well as introducing innovative solutions that drive development, create a sustainable urban environment and enhance the quality of life,” declared Dr. Yousef Mohammed Al-Horr, Founder and Chairman of Gulf Organization for Research and Development.

Its purpose is to educate the public while coming up with real solutions in the construction field, which can be applied in order to protect both the environment and the future of companies that operate in this sector.

“In addition to the magazine, we will continue to support and organize regular campaigns to educate and raise awareness about green building technologies, integrated designs, eco-friendly building models and energy management systems to consolidate the region’s position as a leader in sustainable development.” concluded All-Horr.
