Hands-On Mobile, the San Francisco-based leading entertainment company, announced that it has reached a new agreement with Activision Publishing, following which two new mobile games would be created: Guitar Hero World Tour and a sequel of Guitar Hero III: Backstage Pass, released back in July.

Presented as one of the most ambitious mobile games to come from Hands-On, Guitar Hero World Tour builds on the Guitar Hero franchise and brings new elements, including real-time & cross-carrier multiplayer features and an interactive web companion. The latter is meant to enable players to create profiles, check out leaderboards and get new music (via download).

The mobile Guitar Hero World Tour also includes drums and it will allow lots of handsets to make use of master recordings in MP3 quality.

"We are excited to continue our relationship with Activision and further extend the Guitar Hero franchise to fans worldwide," says David White, Hands-On Mobile's chief executive officer. "The popularity of the Guitar Hero games in the mobile phone environment proves that a multi-platform approach complements the success of a franchise like Guitar Hero. We are confident the upcoming titles will further advance the mobile phone gaming industry in a significant way and provide consumers with the opportunity to stay connected to their favorite games."

Dusty Welch, head of publishing for Guitar Hero, adds: "Hands-On Mobile has been an ideal partner to recreate the Guitar Hero franchise for mobile phone gaming. The Guitar Hero Mobile platform has proven to be a phenomenal success and a great way for gamers to experience the franchise on yet another platform."

Guitar Hero World Tour for mobiles will be available before the year's end, at about the same time with its console version. The Guitar Hero III: Backstage Pass sequel is expected to hit the market a bit later, sometime in 2009.

Unfortunately, for the moment there are no screenshots available, for neither of the upcoming Hands-On titles, hence Guitar Hero fans will probably have to wait until the games are officially out.
