Activision is interested in making Guitar Hero World Tour, the upcoming game in its music simulation franchise, as attractive as possible on launch, especially considering the fact that Rock Band 2 is already out and selling in North America. So, the publisher decided to launch quite a few day one downloadable tracks the moment you get your hands on the videogame.

Both PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 players of World Tour will be able to download four tracks immediately on launch day: No Rain from Blind Melon, Hot Blooded from Foreigner, Rock and Roll Band from Boston and Jesse's Girl from Rick Springfield. You can get the four songs as individual downloads or you can opt to get the last three mentioned above as part of a classic rock track pack.

Those getting the Xbox 360 version of Guitar Hero World Tour will also be able to download right on launch day three songs from R.E.M., all of them taken from their latest album. Horse to Water, Man-Sized Wreath and Supernatural Superserious will also be available on the PlayStation Network on November 13.

Activision pointed to the fact that there are other tracks you can play in the game, apart from the downloadable ones and those on the game disc. Death Magnetic, the latest album from rock legends Metallica, has been made available as a download for Guitar Hero III, but the product is actually coded so that a player can also use it in Guitar Hero World Tour, playing more instruments with different gameplay mechanics. Metallica are also said to be powering a full game coming later in 2009 from Activision.

Activision talked about a free download which is said to allow people to play the trademark guitar duels as composed Ted Nugent and Zakk Wylde without playing the career mode of the game.
