The best music game will roam the streets on the best-selling portable console

Guitar Hero was never designed to surface on portable consoles in the first place, but one should never underestimate Nintendo when it comes to crazy and unexpected ports. A GH III for the DS seemed to be just a rumor, a couple of weeks ago, but now it's been fully confirmed by Charles Huang, co-founder of RedOctane, the developer of the game.

Huang also mentioned that the "technical path is not set yet", meaning that the developers are still thinking about a way to make the game playable, fun and add a peripheral that fits the DS. The implementation of such an attachment would increase the console's fame and open new possibilities in the field of music games.

I have an idea! Let's create some sort of air guitar controller, made out of two components: one the palm of your hand and the other attached to your belly. While you press the buttons on the controller from your hand, you'll be able to strum all you want thanks to the controller strapped to your body. Of course, this is my personal concept and not a very good idea, considering that the DS will become rather static, denying its portable nature.

If Guitar Hero III manages to be a success in its DS version, we'll maybe see a Rock Band title gone portable and while that may seem impossible right now, no one can know what secrets Nintendo has in its vault. I'm really curious to see RedOctane's solution for implementing the controls that worked swell on the Xbox and PS2, on one of the best-selling portable consoles. Is it a little guitar controller? Will the DS be turned into a musical instrument? We'll just have to wait and see what they come up with this time, be it peripheral or software implementation...
