Gaming journalist rocks Activision's party

Activision has recently thrown a preview party, which focused on the acclaimed Guitar Hero III title. During the event, one of the gaming journalists attending it managed to beat an unlockable song, considered unbeatable even by the developers. The hero's name is Nick Tan, of Game Revolution and he managed to impress the Activision representatives with his class act. You can watch it all in the video below and see the record-breaker for yourself:

Nick managed to beat the "Through the Fire and Flames" song by Dragonforce, after three attempts and on Expert Mode. How's that for an achievement in a game that hasn't even been launched yet? The developers wanted the track to be unbeatable, but they didn't count on the fast hands of a gaming journalist.

This reminds me of that 8-year-old kid who was a Guitar Hero expert and managed to play tracks even without watching the scrolling notes on the TV screen. Will he beat Nick's record when the game comes out? Gamers have already started commenting on this achievement and saying that the "Guitar Hero" worked for Red Octane, or that he was the creator of those notes implemented in the game. It may be the envy speaking, as the man has nothing to do with the game's developers or publishers.

Also, GH die-hard fans mentioned that the song is nothing, when compared to Buckethead's Jordan and its incredibly tough solo... Knowing Buckethead's crazy and superb work I tend to agree as the artist's solo mostly relies on random notes, but the genius sure knows what he's doing. I, for one had trouble with Avenged Sevenfold's "Beast and the Harlot" from GH II and still couldn't manage to get a perfect rating while playing it. I know that I'm not great at playing the game, but it's good to know that there are gaming journalists who rock like they should in GH III.
