Says guitarist

Guitar Hero 5 is out and battling The Beatles Rock Band for the money of Christmas shoppers who are looking for some social and music gaming, and DJ Hero is also out, trying to find its niche. There are signs that Activision is already talking to artists about a sequel to the disk spinning title and it seems that some musicians also have information related to the inevitable Guitar Hero 6 (or maybe VI).

Dave Rude, who is the guitarist of the band Tesla, talked to BW&BK magazine and said that their track Modern Day Cowboy had been requested by Activision directly for the game. He stated that “Honestly, there's some pirate versions of 'Modern Day Cowboy' that people have made up for the game out there. They did ask us what we would request. That was one of our three that we wanted.”

The musician did not provide any information on when the song would be codified for use in Guitar Hero 6 or whether he knows other songs that might be included in the game.

Considering that Activision's strategy has been to release annualized versions of its biggest franchises, like Guitar Hero and Call of Duty, the sixth music simulation title should appear in time for the Christmas period of 2010. Several analysts have observed that the music genre is seeing smaller sales this year than in 2008 and both Harmonix and Activision are probably thinking about new ways to attract the interest of potential players.

It's unlikely that gamers will be willing to pay more than 100 dollars in order to again pick up a number of instruments and just a few new songs, so Guitar Hero 6 might actually attempt to attract people by introducing a wider variety of music genres and being completely compatible with all instrument sets on the market.
