Greyson Chance, for those who are not familiar with the name, is the 13-year-old boy who became a YouTube superstar for his cover of Lady Gaga’s “Paparazzi.” At We Day 2010, Greyson wowed with a live cover of “Fire.”

The young singer, considered the next teen superstar in the making, is now working on his debut album, under Ellen DeGeneres’ newly-founded record label.

As it turns out, one of the songs that will be included on the material is his cover of Augustana’s “Fire,” which he performed live at We Day 2010 in Toronto.

Greyson was one of the musical guests at the charity event, which aims to raise money for underprivileged children and, by the looks of things, his performance was wonderfully received.

Earlier this month, Greyson had uploaded a video of him singing the same song on YouTube but, suffice it to say, his live performance was far better.

Even though a bit nervous, as noticeable in a slight tremble in his voice, Greyson proved that he really has what it takes to be a spectacular live performer.

Not only did he interact with audiences both at the beginning and at the end of the song, but he also did so while he was performing – without missing a single beat, one might as well add.

In the “clean” version of the song, the one he posted on YouTube, such interaction is understandably absent, which somehow makes the song less personal.

Add to that the fact that the latter version is also too faithful to the original, as Entertainment Weekly said in a recent post, and one can’t but help wish Greyson would get more offers to perform live.

“Teen sensation Greyson Chance is busy recording his debut album for a planned fall release on Ellen DeGeneres’ eleveneleven label, but in the meantime he’s keeping his fans happy with another of the piano covers that made him famous,” EW writes.

“It’s nothing flashy – just Chance sitting at the piano in his L.A. apartment, playing and singing his heart out,” the same report reads.

Oppositely, his performance at We Day 2010 was massive. See here for more on the charity event.
