14 DAY TRIAL // Sony has announced that both The Green Arrow and The Green Lantern are confirmed as appearing in DC Universe Online, the MMO that is being developed for both the PlayStation 3 and the PC and set to be launched in 2010. The company has released images of both characters as they will be encountered in the videogame by players and offered some information on their abilities and origins.
The Green Arrow is the mayor of Star City by day. He developed his unique abilities with a bow when he was marooned on an island with only the ranged weapon as a companion. Going by his real life name, Oliver Queen, he was initially a social life-interested millionaire who discovered how the poor of the city faired when he lost all his money.
Now, he fights for justice as The Green Arrow. In DC Universe Online, he will get to use a full complement of arrow, including: the glue arrow, the net arrow, the explosive arrow, the time bomb arrow, the grappling arrow, the fire extinguishing arrow, the flash arrow, the tear gas arrow, the cryonic arrow and even the kryptonite arrow. He is set to face off against villains like Count Vertigo, Onomatopoeia, Merlyn, Constantine Drakon, Deathstroke and the Brick.
One of his most trusted partners in the universe of comics is The Green Lantern, aka Harold “Hal” Jordan. He is part of the Green Lantern Corps and acts on the behalf of the Guardians of the Universe by using his green-powered ring. His main enemies both in comic books and in the MMO are the Parallax parasite, which is feeding on fear, and Sinestro, a Lantern wielding a yellow ring.
Both The Green Arrow and The Green Lantern will be fighting alongside the players of DC Universe Online and other heroes when the game comes out.
