14 DAY TRIAL // A 76-year-old woman living in Crewe, Cheshire, England has found a very imaginative way to keep boredom from taking over her life. Long story short, she has taken a keen interest in browsing stores and stealing whatever things she can get her hands on.
Interestingly enough, the woman, by the name June Humphreys, appears to have no intention of giving up this sport, despite the fact that she has been arrested several times.
Thus, according to Mirror, the woman was first convicted of shoplifting back in 2011, and was again found guilty of illegally taking things out of stores in 2011, 2013, and this January.
Apparently, her last conviction was due to the fact that she was caught stealing confectionery, baby clothes, and a breast pump.
Police officers explain that, when out on a shoplifting spree, the woman uses her free bus pass to travel into town and visit as many stores as she possibly can.
In order to steal the items that catch her attention, she uses a shopping cart.
The same source tells us that the woman is not exactly in good health. On the contrary, she is suffering from both breast cancer and osteoarthritis.
Besides, it would appear that she had her first run-ins with the law when she was in her late teens.
“She has the record of a heroin addict in his late teens. She has traveled around on public transport and committed offenses,” probation officer Darren Vernon explains.
He goes on to add that the woman is fully aware of the fact that her actions are wrong, but says that shoplifting helps her feel less like an old lady.
As Darren Vernon puts it, “She knows it is wrong, she says she is bored.”
The woman has seven children and is even a great-grandmother. However, she currently has contact with just one of her kids, which is probably why she feels so alone and in need of entertainment.
