Jane Jensen adventure game back on track for 2009 release

Gray Matter, the first Jane Jensen adventure game since the release of Gabriel Knight 3, is a really anticipated title that has been in development for almost two years now. We don't really know if this is the reason publisher dtp considered it is time to switch developers, but one thing is 100% sure: the game will be now developed by Wizardbox (the same company that's working on So Blonde with Broken Sword writer, Steve Ince) and it is expected to finally be released in 2009.

The unknown Hungarian developer Tonuzaba Entertainment, who was in charge with the game (and it actually was supposed to be released by the end of 2008) probably didn't have what was needed to rise to the challenge and create so fast a game by Jane Jenses. However, dtp announced that this switch will not affect the Gray Matter project - all assets and elements produced so far will continue to be used. And that is great, since I really loved how the heroine of the game, Samantha Everett looked like.

"We decided that from now on Gray Matter should be produced by a developer with experience in adventure games. In addition, our cooperation with Wizarbox has been fruitful and effective. We highly appreciate the studio's professionalism. We decided to switch studios to make sure that the game will be finished in the highest possible quality. It was not an easy decision to make and we invested a lot of time, work, and money to implement it", explains Marcus Windelen, COO of dtp entertainment AG.

Gray Matter promises to stay true to the Jensen style, with a story that mixes together gruesome incidents and supernatural events. One of the game characters is Samantha Everett, a street artist that shows up to neuro-biologist Dr. David Styles' door, wanting to become his assistant. After she succeeds, an experiment of the doctor goes a bit wrong, a lot of strange things start to happen and, of course, it will be up to you to solve the mystery.
