Gran Turismo 5 has finally received a release window for Japan, with Sony confirming that the racing title from Polyphony Digital will be arriving in the Land of the Rising Sun in March. The company has until now refused to comment on a release date for the United States of America and for Europe but it seems that players might have to wait for a few months before getting the full taste of the first Gran Turismo title for the PlayStation 3.

Chris Hinojosa-Miranda, a representative of Sony Computer Entertainment of America, has told Destructoid in a news piece, that has since been taken down, that the game is slated for a tentative date of summer 2010, which might mean either early June, only two months after the March Japanese release, or late August.

The fact that Sony and Polyphony are not talking about a release date also raises the specter of another delay for Gran Turismno 5, which has already been in development for the better part of four years and has reportedly cost more than 60 million dollars to be made.

Those looking for a taste of the experience that will be offered and who are bored of playing the tracks and cars offered in Gran Turismo 5: Prologue can look forward to December 17 when they get access, on the PlayStation Store, to a time trial-oriented demo for the title set to show off the graphics and the car details, which will also be offered in the full release in 2010.

It will be nice to see how many players will be interested in picking up the title when it is finally launched, considering that they can already pick up Forza Motorsport 3 for the Xbox 360 and Need for Speed: Shift on a variety of platforms in the same genre.
