Gran Turismo 5 players will finally be able to control the special B-Spec races from another platform than a PlayStation 3, as the Gran Turismo Anywhere service will be launched next month.

Gran Turismo has a variety of different modes, but among the most peculiar is B-Spec, a mode that tasks you not with racing, per se, but with managing an AI-controlled driver.

You can order him to overtake, drive more aggressively or ease up, so that he won't make any mistakes.

Even if that sounds pretty interesting, Gran Turismo Anywhere aims at making the mode even more attractive, as it will let players control the outcome of the events through a web browser on a computer or other mobile platforms.

The new mode is set to arrive this February, according to a recent Twitter post by Gran Turismo 5 creator Kazunori Yamauchi, who said that a future update is going to enable the service.

Yamauchi declined to detail the new service, but some information is already making the rounds on the web.

According to the reports, the Anywhere mode will require players to have their PlayStation 3 up and running, with Gran Turismo 5 started up, in order to access the B-Spec races.

Also, according to Eurogamer, the mode won't let you complete the actual races, thus earning you more experiences and money.

Instead, you will be managing your AI-controlled driver in races against your friends, who are also controlling their AI racers.

While this may sound as rather interesting, it's pretty hard to imagine that people will go to work and leave their PlayStation 3 running at home in order to be able to do a few races against friends and not even earn things like experience, new cars or money.

Still, these are rumors, for now, so expect more details about Gran Turismo Anywhere around February.
