Trent Reznor is not happy at all with how the Recording Academy handled a time management issue during the live broadcast of the 2014 Grammy Awards on CBS, and he’s not shy about it at all.

The rocker took to the stage at the end of the awards gala to perform “Copy of A,” off the 2013 album “Hesitation Marks,” but barely made it 2 minutes into the song when he was cut off by the ending credits, which started to roll onscreen.

To make matters even worse, Reznor was not alone on stage, having been joined by Dave Grohl, Josh Homme, and Lindsey Buckingham of Fleetwood Mac.

He found producers’ decision to cut their number short very disrespectful, writing on his Twitter about his disappointment in no uncertain terms. “Music's biggest night... to be disrespected. A heartfelt [expletive] YOU guys,” he says.

Speaking with reporters backstage, Recording Academy President Neil Portnow hinted that Reznor should have expected this when he accepted to be part of the closing act, because they’re always in the balance as to the amount of screen time they get.

“We save the end slot for something that is a bit of a jam, because you can have the energy go and then it's just a matter of the clock,” Portnow says.
