You could probably pick Steven Tyler of Aerosmith from a crowd even if he was with his back at you because of the way he usually dresses. A fan of scarves and overaccessorizing, the rocker definitely played it simpler at last night’s 2014 Grammy Awards.

Above is a photo of Tyler’s definition of “simple.” The Daily Mail describes his outfit as a “‘70s-era prom-style tux in all white” with a matching tie and shoes that also offered him a bit of boost thanks to higher heels.

Even though the media outlet hints that the outfit seems dated, despite the blue strand of hair he probably had dyed specifically for the occasion, there’s no doubt that he pretty much owned the red carpet.

The tab has a video of some of the stars’ arrivals and, if you have the patience to last until the end, you will hear how the photographers’ screaming gets louder as Steven walks in. Useless to say, the bigger the celeb, the louder the screams and, from this point of view, Steven seems to be doing a-ok.

Also on the red carpet, Tyler crossed paths with Jared Leto and his bandmates from 30 Seconds to Mars, with the Mail joking that the two rockers probably compared hairstyles to determine who had the best hair. As if that were ever a possibility! Jared would win hands-down.

All jokes aside, once inside the Staples Center in LA, Steven left his bad-boy image at the door and was ready to boogie.

So, this happened during Daft Punk’s performance of “Get Lucky”:
