14 DAY TRIAL // I know that everyone was saying last year they had had just about enough of Lorde’s “Royals” because it was receiving so much airplay but, somehow, this 17-year-old singing sensation managed to put a new spin to it at the 2014 Grammy Awards.
Held live at the Staples Center in Los Angeles and airing on CBS, the awards gala honored the best of the best in the music industry, while also including several, pretty impressive performances.
Lorde’s didn’t stand out for being an elaborate show or with a complicated choreography. In fact, it was anything but that, as you can also see in the video below.
Accompanied by her band, Lorde got jazzy as she felt every note of her hit song, delivering an absolutely flawless live rendition of it. And yes, I know I’m partial to her a bit, but there can be no denying that she has one of the most distinctive and powerful voices from the new generation.
Lorde also picked up the award for Record of the Year, for the same song and was absolutely overwhelmed by the honor. It was well deserved, her fans are saying.
