The Recording Academy tried to do a nice thing to include singer and actor Cory Monteith of the “Glee” fame in the In Memorian segment at the 56th annual Grammy Awards, held last night in Los Angeles, but an oversight on the part of producers landed them in very hot waters.

As you can see in the photo above, they spelled Cory’s last name wrong, “Montieth” instead of “Monteith.”

This might not seem like a big thing to you, but to fans of the late actor, who died last summer at the age of 31 of a drug and alcohol accidental overdose, it was the biggest offense possible, so many of them took to social media to vent their frustration.

If you’re going to do something, you might as well make sure you’re doing it right, many of them seem to be saying, in more or less these words. Misspelling the name of one of your honorees does you no honor, so heads should roll if the Academy wants to save face, others are implying, as AceShowbiz informs.

Monteith was included in the In Memoriam segment with Lou Reed of The Velvet Underground and Phil Everly from The Everly Brothers.
