Justin Bieber and his mentor Usher did do some collaboration work before, but it’s never been for such a major live event as the Grammys. Add a touch of Jaden Smith to the thing, and you get one of the hottest performances of the night.

Eva Longoria introduced one of the most anticipated duets at the Grammy Awards 2011, though not necessarily the best, according to many non-Beliebers.

After she spoke of Justin as the hottest and fastest ascending pop star of his age, everybody’s attention was diverted to one of the big screens, where footage from the 2007 audition that made him famous played.

As fans must already know, Justin was discovered by Usher that year. One year later, in October 2008, he’d landed him a record deal with Def Jam – a superstar had been born.

Back to the stage, Bieber, guitar on his lap, exchanged a few words with Usher, with the latter saying “Yeah, that was four years ago. That’s how it started,” and then retreating to allow his protégé to do his thing.

After an acoustic version of “Baby” that must have surely brought a tear to the eye of his female fans, some ninjatastic drummers / dancers came on the stage – and the show officially started, as the video below will confirm.

Bieber then launched into his “Never Say Never,” which also gives the name of his 3D film, now in theaters in the US and several other territories.

The biggest surprise though came as he was joined on stage by none other than Jaden Smith, Will Smith’s son from “Karate Kid.” Since it’s his sister Willow that’s going with The Biebs on tour, many probably expected her to be there.

Usher also got his fair share of attention, bursting on the stage for a rendition of his “OMG,” towards the end of which Justin also chimed in for a few lines.

As the video below will show, the fiery performance was duly welcomed by the audience with a standing ovation.

Check out Justin Bieber, Usher and Jaden Smith performing at the Grammys 2011. Enjoy.
