Match made in Heaven?

No more just online search functions for Google, MSN, Yahoo and all the big ones that used to deal with just one huge service and that was it.

Now, if multi-tasking is not any major search engine's thing, it'd better step out of the game and let the real players do the job.

Google has definitely no intention of doing that, considering that practically every week they come up with a new idea and great game plan that they offer users. Desktop search and VoIP telephony aside, now it's time for a TV guide to look like Google... or the other way around.

The newest feature that Google is planning to introduce will be to pinpoint TV content that was previously aired on a selection of networks by scanning through the closed caption text that many programmers offer. So far, only content aired by ABC, PBS, Fox News and C-SPAN during last month has been stored by Google, but indexing much more channels is the goal for Google.

However, the company didn't mention anything about linking that information to the actual show/movie so they can watch a "re-run". Users will only be able to get an idea of the show by looking at five still shots from indexed television programs, as well as snippets from the show's narrative.

Yahoo Inc. also has been going about the idea of a product that finds video available for Internet users, and the first step to getting to that is launching its very one video search tool.
