One more update quietly rolled out

Google Maps, the web-based mapping tool powered by the Mountain View company, received another silent update from the parent firm but it's not quite clear if the function was rolled out along with the latest major improvement. The new update concerns the link that redirects the users to a certain location displayed by the web-service because until now, the consumers were forced to wait for a refresh of the page until they managed to get the direct link. This new update brings a special popup for the link of the location, allowing the users to copy it with a single click.

It's not quite clear if this function was included in the solution since the Mountain View company rolled out the latest major update launched last week. However, some of the users sustain the feature has been available for few days so I guess it was quietly introduced by the search giant.

"Google Maps updated their "Link to this page" link (probably) last week. Before this update, Google Maps will reload every time when you click on "Link to this page", which is uber-inconvenient for users," Haochi from Googlified wrote today. "This has been there since not long after the update (could have been with the update). I find myself using the link to this page feature and I remember noticing that it had changed a couple of weeks ago," Martin Porcheron, a visitor of Google Blogoscoped, said in a comment.

In the recent period, Google Maps was often brought in the spotlights because the latest release, Street View, caused numerous problems for the parent company. If you didn't know, Street View allows users to view street level panoramas from several US locations. Because the function is quite rich in content, a lot of consumers expressed their privacy concerns as Street View is able to show information straight from their houses.
