Rumors or not?

These days are full of rumors and speculations but, what the heck, when someone talks about a potential product prepared by some, there must be a small piece of truth somewhere. Earlier this day, it was rumored that Google prepares a mobile operating system based on Linux that would bundle all the mobile software technologies designed by the Mountain View giant. Here's an update on that: the folks from CrunchGear report that someone inside HTC sustained that Google works with the handheld producer to built a potential gPhone. Moreover, the two companies might release the device in the first quarter of 2008 but only in Taiwan.

"A HTC insider sent us a tip this weekend about an upcoming gPhone coming out of Taiwan that should launch Q1 2008. There is also some talk that Samsung will be releasing gPhone handsets as well, but that has not been confirmed," CrunchGear reported.

It seems like the Mountain View company would be interested in developing a special version of Google Maps as well as Gmail and Calendar. Maybe the truth is somehow between today's rumors because Google might create a handheld device using the help of HTC but also a Linux-based operating system that would be included in these products.

In the recent period, Google struggled to become more powerful in the mobile market but it often remained in the shadow of Yahoo, the Sunnyvale company being the owner of oneSearch. If you didn't hear about it, oneSearch is one of the top mobile search technologies, being described as the solution that will remain on the first place for a long period of time. Google is not so powerful when it comes to mobile solutions but let's be honest, a potential device or even a mobile operating system will bring the Mountain View company on the first page of the newspapers.
