Sadly, this is only a patent for now, not that it's bound to stay as such for long

It's one thing to create a new product and another to reserve the right to be the first to make one, but the latter is what Google has just done.

Electronic photo frames have been made before, even though they aren't all that widespread. People prefer tablets and e-readers, or like the more palpable, physical pictures.

Google figured it needed to give those things something extra, some flair of their own.

So it filed a patent for a wireless photo frame that can connect directly to phones, tablets and any other mobile device.

It would allow people to be tagged in a photo, import the tag to the phone contact list, automatically sync, wirelessly, with said phone etc.

The frame would also show an image of the caller if you happen to be nearby when getting contacted.

The photo frame functionality will probably be integrated into Android, office suite and Google TV.
