Google recently announced during its I/O conference that iOS developers will be able to create apps for the Cardboard VR with the new SDK released this week.

At the same time, Google launched the Cardboard application for iOS device on App Store. The application should help iOS users with their Cardboard VR set up by teaching them how to assemble it.

On the other hand, the Android application has been updated as well. The new version should address some issues reported by users, but it will also add some improvements that should make the VR experience much smoother and immersive.

First and foremost, those who already have the application but haven't updated yet, should know that the new version fixes a black screen issue that was reported by some users. The problem was only affecting certain smartphones, but now, hopefully, it's been fixed.

When it comes to improvements and new features, Google confirmed that the latest version of Cardboard app should improve camera preview when scanning QR code.

Furthermore, drift correction is now less aggressive and uses uncalibrated gyro when available. The official changelog also mentions support trigger with a single screen touch on phones running Android Jelly Bean.

Last but not least, the update now allows users to disable Windy Day on those smartphones that don't support OpenGL ES3.

You can now download Google Cardboard for Android 1.5 for free via Google Play Store. The application should be fully compatible with all devices powered by Android 4.1 and up.

Keep in mind that in order to fully enjoy this application, you will need a Cardboard viewer, which you can order via Google's dedicated website.

Warning: Do not use this app while driving, walking, or otherwise by being distracted or disoriented from real world situations that prevent you from obeying traffic or safety laws.
