And hits it with a new update

Google Talk received a brand new update that might get the instant messaging client closer to its famous rival, Yahoo Messenger. TypePad, one of the largest blog services on the Internet, integrated the Google Talk gadget into their service and is now allowing the blog owners to chat straight from their pages. The embedded instant messaging client is very similar to the downloadable application with a single major difference: it is accessible straight from a web-based interface instead of the taskbar of your computer. "With the Google Talk Gadget you can see your contacts and chat right from your blog...and enable your readers to do the same. (This Widget works best with TypePad blog layouts where your sidebar is at least 200 pixels wide.)", TypePad mentions in the description of the gadget.

As you might know, the most popular instant messaging client on the Internet, Yahoo Messenger, developed a new flavor of the application, making it accessible from an online interface without having to install anything more than Flash. Some time ago, the Sunnyvale company announced its intentions to go even further and implement Yahoo Messenger into the mail accounts just like the Google Talk - Gmail implementation. This new gadget designed by TypePad is somehow a reply to the recent Yahoo moves but let's be honest, Google Talk has to work a lot until it manages to challenge the Sunnyvale company's messaging client.

"I was excited when the Google Talk Gadget launched in March, since it meant there was one more way to chat with your buddies on the Web -- it let you access Google Talk as a gadget on iGoogle or add it to your own Web page. Today we're pleased that TypePad has syndicated the Google Talk Gadget to their Widget Gallery, and we're looking forward to staying connected with our fellow bloggers," Mary Himinkool, New Business Development, said today.
